Annual Communication
Text Box: There are six pieces of legislation to be handled at the upcoming 196th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. An additional six (proposed legislation A—F) have been submitted but won’t be acted upon unless a supporter seeks and received “immediate consideration.”
The six slated for action are as follows:
If changed, Section 29.04 effectively will allow a person to change his designated “primary lodge” to a lodge with whom currently holds a plural membership without a vote being taken by either lodge.
Section 27.02 revises the manner and form in which a candidate for degrees may be examined in the various degrees.
Section 31.02 revises the credential requirement of visitors attending a lodge under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Ohio.
Section 16.01 stipulates the need for a member, submitting an application in a new lodge, to clarify if he wishes to maintain plural membership, otherwise his membership shall cease in the elder lodge.
Section 26.01 and Section 26.04 changes accountability in the incidents of casting a negative ballot against a petitioner. The new language will require any Brother who cast a negative vote to privately identify himself to the master within 48 hours, stating the reasons for so doing. If no brother so informs the master within the prescribe time frame, the petitioner will be accepted.
Section 34.02 deals with the topic of permitting alcoholic beverages in non-dedicated portions of the Masonic Lodge.
